Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
The Prints and Drawings internship was packed with valuable hands on curatorial experiences. During my internship I assisted the curator with a variety of exhibitions including: an exhibition on Modern and Contemporary abstract prints and drawings dealing with line and abstraction, an upcoming exhibition on the history of mezzotint, and an installation highlighting the work of Mark Bradford and Robert Rauschenberg. Throughout my internship I was involved in all aspects of exhibition planning including the creation of object checklists, conducting artist and object research, editing and writing didactic material, consulting with conservators, and assisting in installation.
One particularly rewarding experience was preparing for a future mezzotint exhibition by researching the MFAH mezzotint collection, determining gaps in the collection, and finding historically relevant mezzotints and their current market value. The perspective and skills I have developed from this internship will be invaluable as I pursue a career in the museum world and I thank the IFPDA for facilitating the incredible learning opportunity.
