Curatorial Internships

Art Institute of Chicago

Courtney Wilder

While at the Art Institute of Chicago, she will be conducting research on the museum’s collection of prints by Édouard Manet for a scholarly catalogue incorporating all of the AIC’s Manet holdings. The catalogue will be available digitally as part of the larger OSCI project (Online Scholarly Catalogue Initiative), which has already generated publications on the AIC’s collections of works by Monet and Renoir.

Her research focuses on intersections of technology, scientific imagery, and decorative novelty in Western European visual arts, ca. 1680-1830. She is particularly interested in the roles that print culture, itself evolving technologically and socially during this period, played in facilitating the production of and shaping desires for everyday objects featuring innovative designs.
